On November 5th, 2024, the majority of American voters made Christian Nationalism the dominant face of religion in our country. But this is not the only expression of faith - or even the largest. We remain a country full of not only Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, and more, but:
Spiritual dissidents, religious anarchists, mystics, humanists, deconstructionists and exvangelicals, brujas and mujeristas, witches, agnostics, and atheists;
Radical leftists, socialists, antifascists, anti-war pacifists, ecological conservationists, and global liberationists;
Queers and trans folk, feminists, black power activists, indigenous demonstrators, immigrants and Dreamers, and disability, sobriety, and mental health champions;
Punks, poets, monastics, creators, organizers, and fools;
and revolutionaries of all kinds, united by their belief in hope, community, and love.
The Heretic Interfaith Ministry Network (HIMN) is for all of you. Part mutual aid network, part educational resource, and part faith community, HIMN exists to bring together all those who still hope for a radically inclusive future. When the world around us chooses to glorify hate, we will choose to be heretics.
HIMN is located in Southern Michigan/Northern Ohio, but is open to everyone regardless of where they live. HIMN is unequivocally in support of people of color, immigrants, women, workers, the LGBTQIA2s+ community, the disabled community, our indigenous peoples, refugees and victims of genocide, and our planet.
Whatever life brings, we want you to have support. We maintain an ever-evolving a list of the mutual aid networks and support groups across our geographic area (Southern Michigan/Northern Ohio), as well as several national resources.
We're not the first to go through these struggles - and we're fortunate that many have left us their wisdom. While these resources come from all walks of life, HIMN highlights the knowledge and perspectives of marginalized communities.
Our goal is to make sure you know that you're not alone. While we don't have any brick and mortar buildings, we strive to make a tangible interfaith community both online and in the world.
Decrying Christian Nationalism
Christian Nationalism is a religious movement that deifies nationalism and whiteness and frames the oppression of all others as a divine right. We can stand against this movement by standing alongside the poor, the marginalized, the oppressed, and the othered.
We're going to get called heretics anyway, so we embrace it. This kind of "heresy" is needed: Many have been completely alienated from faith because they have been met with only cruelty, hypocrisy, and exclusion from religious institutions. This isn't acceptable. We have to set our faith apart, loudly and boldly, starting with our name and extending to every part of our mission. We have to preach unconditional love and inclusion as loudly as others preach the opposite.
The HIMN
A Heretic's Mantra
The goal of this mantra is to be something that can be recited whenever you need it - either as individual, three-line stanzas to help you be present in a moment, or collectively as a whole prayer. At the end of each Sunday Broadcast, we recite the HIMN together to help prepare us for the week.

END
These times are dark and full of horrors.
My heart aches at the injustice I see -
But I will not avert my eyes.
I am a light that cannot be extinguished.
Death cannot have me.
Death cannot have this world.
There is good in the world because I have chosen to be good.
There is love in the world because I have chosen to be loving.
There is hope in the world because I have chosen to hope.
I resist.
I resist.
I resist.
And I am not alone in my resistance.
